Empowering Human Rights Defenders
Background
Our longstanding collaboration with the International Service for Human Rights (ISHR) has been instrumental in advancing their mission to support and empower human rights defenders globally. Initially engaged to produce a suite of animations, our partnership has evolved to encompass a comprehensive digital transformation of ISHR's educational and advocacy platforms.
Our Contribution
We have worked closely with ISHR to design, develop, and maintain the ISHR Academy, a central hub for human rights education and resources. Our deliverables include:
- Information Architecture (IA)
- User Experience (UX) design and wireframes
- Interface design
- Custom illustrations and animations
- Website and Content Management System (CMS) development
- Localisation for multilingual access
- Hosting and ongoing technical support
The Academy also supports ISHR's flagship Human Rights Defenders Advocacy Programme (HRDAP), integrating various third-party tools to facilitate community engagement and communication around the courseware.
Impact and Results
Our collaborative efforts have significantly enhanced ISHR's capacity to deliver impactful training and resources:
- In 2021, ISHR provided training and advocacy support to 1,019 human rights defenders worldwide, marking a 191% increase compared to 2020.
- 92% of HRDAP21 participants surveyed reported that the HRDAP Platform and ISHR Academy were "easy to access and easy to navigate."
- In the latest HRDAP edition, 98% of participants expressed being extremely or very satisfied with the programme and felt confident in applying their new knowledge to their advocacy work.
